A mother and her troubled 18-year-old daughter Katalijne manage the roadside café where driver Remco gets his coffee most days. Together these three daydream about love, money and success, blind to the reality of their everyday lives, but just a little bad luck changes their dreams into a joint nightmare.
Lot Vekemans (1965) graduated from the Writerschool in Amsterdam in 1993. She has written several plays for children as well as for adults, such as The Nymph (for Playwright-festival Hollandse Nieuwe) and Not an Ordinary Girl (for youth theatre company Artemis). In 2005 she won the Van derVies Award, and in 2010 she won the prestigious Taalunie Toneelschrijfprijs. Her first novel was published in 2012.
