A mother and father mourn the loss of their only son. The funeral is powerful and grand. Several hundred people have turned up to say their last farewell. After the funeral the parents struggle to get back to everyday life. One day there is a knock on the door… and their son is back.

Fredrik Brattberg (born 1978) is a composer and playwright. He has spent most of his adult life writing contemporary music, but since his debut as a playwright in 2008, writing has been his main focus. In 2012, Fredrik received the Ibsen Award for The Returning.
